Wood Based Composite Decking (WBC):
Trex, Fiberon, etc. These decks will come at several price points, the entry levels such as the Trex Enhance lineup are more popular due to their lower starting price and nice color range. These deck boards generally come with a 25-30 year limited warranty and are a great choice to get into a maintenance free outdoor addition. The entry level, non-capped options are prone to mold buildup under certain circumstances however.
PVC Decking:
TimberTech, Azek, etc. These deck boards are made with 100% PVC, they weigh less than composite boards, stay cooler than composite boards but are comparable to MBC boards. They generally come with a 30-50 year limited warranty and are MOLD Free. The only CONS with this option is that they come at a steep price tag.
Mineral Based Composite Decking (MBC):
Deckorators. These boards replace the "wood" elements found inside wood based composite boards such as Trex, with enhanced mineral based elements. These boards will be the strongest and most durable of the 3 options. They have 30% more grip which translates to a non-slippery deck during wet conditions and are MOLD free. These boards come with a 50 year warranty that covers materials and labor! They are comparable to the PVC boards when it comes to how hot they get, however, in our studies, PVC boards will be cooler 55% of the time. Price-wise, they fall in between the PVC and WBC boards.
Wood decks
A beautiful wood deck is a timeless addition that will make your outdoor space a place you want to constantly use and relax in! If you want a higher end alternative, we can install IPE, Balau, or Black Locust decking. RTC Restorations will help you create a wood deck that will elevate the beauty of your home.
